Full Description
Alleged site of battle between the Scots and the Danes. The names 'Arrdanes' and 'Swordanes' applied to two fields are supposed to refer to the two separate divisions of the Danish army, and to commemorate a battle in which Indulf the Scottish King was slain, but which was more likely to be in reign of Malcolm II. In 1853 twenty-one skulls were taken from a mound at Boyndie in the 'Arrdanes' field. This mound was reputed to cover the burial trench of the slain. A large portion of the skulls were abnormal and mis-shapen. No evidence now of mounds or trenches.
