Full Description
Site of a pre-Reformation chapel. The OS Name Book, 1866, recorded that a few years previously the tenant had discovered and removed foundations, said to have been an ancient Roman Catholic chapel when improving the ground. The dedication of the well, NJ64NW0028 to the north, suggests that St John may have been the dedication of the chapel as well.
ORDNANCE SURVEY, 1871, Ordnance Name Book, No23(1866) 135 (Bibliographic reference). SAB1360.
