Full Description
Hut circle recorded during a watching brief and excavation carried out by Network Archaeology in 2016 during groundworks for construction of a high pressure gas pipeline between Old Rayne and Jericho (NJ62NE0167). The hut circle was visible on the surface as a semi-circular arc of lathe stones, and excavation also uncovered associated short stretches of gully, pits, postholes and stakeholes. Finds from the hut circle included sherds of mid to late Bronze Age pottery, two possible coarse stone tools and burnt bone fragments. other finds from the excavation included a possible early Neolithic polissior, worked flint and prehistoric pottery.
