Full Description

Site of a large cairn was removed circa 1782. Whilst ploughing at the site a rough wooden coffin was found in 1812. It lay due east-west with head to the east. The coffin was formed from the trunk of an oak divided into three unequal parts, which had been split through the middle to make six parts, two grooved sides, two gavets, a bottom and a lid. The whole was tightly packed by a surrounding of unhewn stones. It contained an urn which was broken on removal.
