Full Description

Site of the castle of Drumdollo which was demolished about 1840. The site is depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. The castle dated from the early 16th century: the OS Name Book noted that it bore the date 1508 but its history is unknown. Nothing visible remains to confirm site on the surface but there is a faint roughly rectangular crop mark in this area visible on a vertical aerial photograph taken in 1977.
