Full Description

Remains of small farmstead and longhouses. Footings of small farmstead/longhouses are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1994. RCAHMS note that the roofed building depicted on the OS 1st edition formed part of the farmstead of Badenshilloch (NJ20NE0021), but does not appear on the 2nd edition. Field survey by RCAHMS in 1997 recorded the remains of two rectangular buildings and a yard. The principal building, set into the slope along the contour, measures 21.9m from east to west by 6.3m transversely over walls reduced to little more than their stone footings 0.9m thick. It is adjoined on the west and southwest by a yard containing at least seven roughly circular stack-stands between 2.5m and 3m in diameter. The second building lies 27m to the east-northeast, is of a single compartment and measures 8.3m from north-northeast to south-southwest by 3.5m transversely over stone wall-footings 0.6m thick.
