Full Description

Depopulated settlement comprising the remains of longhouses near the foot of slope. Rigs run up the hill behind the houses. Two limekilns are depicted on the OS 1st edition map, but only the southern one is shown, as disused, on the 2nd edition map. Site visit 2003 as part of a survey of limekilns in Upper Donside found only the remains of the southern kiln, surviving as a depression in the ground with some stonework partially covered by turf marking the outline of the bowl. The draw hole has collapsed and the lintels are missing. No trace was found of a second kiln.
