Full Description

A test-pit was excavated in 2013 by Colin Shepherd, comprising a 5 m by 5 m excavation. It contained only ploughsoil and a wealth of large stones. The area appears to have been carved out of the former open field in the late 18th -19th century. This was one of five test pits: see also NJ53NW0131, NJ54SW0163, NJ53NW0225, NJ53NW0227.
