Full Description
Site of a stone circle and cairn. The OS name book (1866) recorded that the circle had disappeared and that circa 500 loads of small boulders were trenched out of the ground here. A decorated cinerary urn found and nearby two short cists containing burnt bone had been found circa 25 years previously (early 19th century). A cup-marked stone and a later incised cross-stone, now at Tofthills, are believed to have come from this circle. Now no trace of circle or cairn. RCAHMS site visit 1996 noted that nothing is now visible of this circle, and the present whereabouts of the urn are not known.
