Full Description
Site of a large cairn which measured circa 80 feet in diameter and about 9 feet high. The OS Name Book (1866) records that it was removed circa 1846 when the 'best stones' among roughly 400 cart loads, were used for building a farmstead (although location not recorded). A few arrowheads, pieces of bone, charred wood and black earth were found.
ORDNANCE SURVEY, 1871, Ordnance Name Book, No54(1866) 11 (Bibliographic reference). SAB1360.
