Full Description
A trial trenching evaluation and targeted metal detecting survey was carried out by AOC in 2009-10 on a proposed development site which lies in the wider area thought to be site of the Battle of Alford. A 7 percent sample of the circa 12.5 ha area available for development equated to trenching totalling 8750 square metres. In total 41 trenches with a combined basal area of 8764 square metres were excavated during the course of the evaluation. No archaeological features were encountered and no artefacts of any significance were recovered from the topsoil.
