Full Description
Site of a hospital founded for a chaplain, seven lepers and a servant in 1224-6. The hospital continued, latterly as an institution for the poor, until the 19th century. The last bedesman dying in 1859 and the house being demolished in 1886. OS site visit 1967 noted that the former existence and the name were then still known locally. No remains of house now exist. The Bede House is depicted on the OS 1st edition map.
