Full Description

Site of a farmstead and barley mill, depicted on the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps, now a residential property. The farmstead, on the south side of the burn, is shown on historic mapping as a large range parallel to the burn made up of a an F-plan range, open to the southwest, with an L-plan range at its west end, open to the south east. A probable farmhouse is shown to the south. The mill, on the north side of the burn, comprised a 2-storey and attic rubble building on an L-plan with corrugated iron additions, with a second rectangular building to the west. It had an 8 spoke all iron overshot wheel, 1.01 m by 4.42 m. The mill dam, lade and sluice lay to the south and southeast of the buildings. A corn mill stood a short distance to the north east (NJ46NW0020). A photographic survey was carried out in 2015 prior to the proposed redevelopment of the site.
