Summary
A programme of trial trenching evaluation and watching briefs was carried out by CFA Archaeology between September 2022 and August 2023 on a cable route and access tracks associated with Moray West Offshore Wind Farm Onshore Cable Route through parts of Moray (see also NJ44NW0105, NJ45NE0096, NJ55NW0059, NJ56SW0137, NJ55NW0060, NJ45SE0115, NJ45SE0116) and Aberdeenshire (see also Aberdeenshire HER NJ56SE0173).

Full Description
A programme of trial trenching evaluation and watching briefs was carried out by CFA Archaeology between September 2022 and August 2023 on a cable route and access tracks associated with Moray West Offshore Wind Farm Onshore Cable Route through parts of Moray (see also NJ44NW0105, NJ45NE0096, NJ55NW0059, NJ56SW0137, NJ55NW0060, NJ45SE0115, NJ45SE0116) and Aberdeenshire (see also Aberdeenshire HER NJ56SE0173). Evidence of previous land use in the form of field boundaries and drainage/agricultural ditches were uncovered across the site, along with agricultural activity in the form of furrows, plough marks, and stone and ceramic field drains. No other features of archaeological significance were recorded in the evaluation trenches within Moray. A watching brief centred NJ 45327 48026 where the route crossed the line of an old military road (NJ44NE0021) found no evidence of a buried road structure.
