Full Description

Test pitting and subsequent excavation in September 2014 as part of the Rhynie Environs Archaeological Project recorded a number of features in this area including a possible round barrow, some small pits with charcoal rich fills and a large pit. The barrow, a ring shaped ditch 4m in diameter, had no grave cut although there were some possible internal features. A flint flake was receved from the ditch fill. It was not clear whether the pits were associated with the barrow.
