Full Description

A series of test pits were dug across the square in September 2014 as part of the Rhynie Environs Archaeological Project. The work recorded an old track, possibly that depicted on the OS 1st edition map and some possible structural surfaces relating to anomalies identified by earlier geophysical survey. It is likely that this area was levelled when it was made into a communal village space. The finds did not indicate any activity earlier than the 18th century.
