Full Description
A wide moat surrounding an elevation of about one acre, as described by the News Statistical Account (1845), classified by Simpson (1929) as a motte. OS site visit 1968 found no trace of a moat. It was destroyed sometime before 1865. Bogdan (2008) suggests that it might have been a moated homestead.
