Full Description

Site of a cairn. It had been heavily robbed before first excavation in 1871 but parts of what seemed to have been the kerb remained in the form of four large masses of stones. First food vessel was found by Morrison at bottom of a 5ft pit, 6ft within circumference of cairn, covered with ashes over which lay a slab (possibly part of cist), which in turn was overlaid by boulders. Second food vessel was found by farmer in 1879 also at bottom of deep pit in an oval cist 4ft x 2ft overlaid by boulders and ash. A possible intrusive flint was also found in cist. A third interment was thought to be in the cairn.
