Full Description

Site of a bridge over the River Spey, maintained from the 13th Century up to the Reformation, after which it was allowed to decay and was swept away. Posts reported by Ian Keillar can only be seen at very low water and may be in fact from a later structure. The bridge probably stood where present one is. Walkover survey in May 2022 ahead of a proposed 132kV overhead line (NJ25SE0078) confirmed no visible remains of the medieval bridge.

Period Notes
Original bridge 13thC; suspension bridge built 1831-32; repairs and improvements 1845; replaced by present bridge built 1956.
