Full Description

Site of the north port, or gateway, of the Burgh of Elgin (NJ26SW0158). It stood in Lossie Wynd, and was demolished in 1787. The location about half way along the rigs on either side of the street may mark the original limit of the rigs on the north side of the High Street. A plaque on the wall of 24 Lossie Wynd bears the inscription 'REMNANT OF NORTH PORT FOUND DUE EAST 1884'.
