Full Description
Site of the east port, or gateway, of the Burgh of Elgin (NJ26SW0158). It stood in College Street just west of the junction with King Street until its demolition in 1795. There has been a suggestion that it formerly stood further west, to the east of the parish church, but there is currently no evidence for this. There is a reference to the port in 1242, but this does not indicate the location.
