Full Description
A watching brief was carried out by AOC Archaeology in 2013 during groundbreaking works for the Elgin Flood Alleviation Scheme. Topsoil stripping uncovered a grave containing disarticulated skeletal remains, and which had apparently been disturbed. Ceramic finds and a clay pipe stem suggest that the grave and disturbance date to the post medieval period. The work also uncovered two parallel lines of paired sandstone blocks running northeast-southwest towards the river. One of the pairs of blocks had a large iron chain within the cut around the stones.
