Full Description
A trial trenching evaluation was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in March 2014 ahead of proposed development. Five trenches were excavated. Two burials, the bones in poor condition, were found in Trench 1 and disarticulated bones in Trench 5. The first burial was complete with no evidence of shroud or coffin. The second was also supine and extended but most of the skeleton had been disturbed. No artefact evidence for dating the burials was recovered. Samples of bone have been radiocarbon dated to the post-medieval period, between the 16th and 18th centuries AD.
