Full Description

On 20th March 1942, a Whitley V P499 aeroplane from RAF Bogs of Mayne overshot the runway while attempting to land in the early of the morning. The Whitley stalled before crashing into trees and bursting into flames around 200 yards from Mayne House. All of 6 crewmen died in the crash.
