Full Description

During a desk-based assessment for the Elgin FAS, an area of what appear to be strip allotments were identified at the northwest end of Borough Briggs, which is now open parkland. It is not clear when the allotments first occupied the site, but the photograph from which the site was identified dates to 1946 which may indicate that they were a war-time addition to the town. However, Wood's 1822 map of Elgin shows the area around Blackfriars as 'Mr Grigor's Nursuries', which may suggest an earlier date. Much of the site has now been built over.
