Full Description
A series of test trenches were excavated here in 2002 by S. Farrell as part of the Moray Flood Alleviation Project. A watching brief was then carried out at this site between May 2004 and May 2005, when larger scale excavation was undertaken. Various cropmarks have previously been identified in the vicinity. Excavation revealed Late Neolithic, Early Bronze Age, Iron Age and Medieval activity. A number of pits and hearths were excavated, with finds of prehistoric pottery and flint artefacts recovered. Soil sampling was also carried out, and charcoal recovered was subjected to radiocarbon dating.
