Full Description

Remains of the former Burghead to Hopeman branch line, part of the Highland Railway. Construction on the line was completed in 1892 (shown on the 2nd edition OS map), but was closed to passenger trains in September 1931. The last 40ft of track at Hopeman and the buffer at the track end were removed in May 2007. SCAPE Community Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (CCZAS) in 2022 recorded two metal kissing gates at NJ1213469092 either side of the railway. Also the remains of a bridge at NJ 12379 69127 which carried the railway over a track. It is a single-arched stone bridge.

Completed 1892; closed to passenger traffic 1931, last section removed 2007.
