Full Description

A walkover survey and archive assessment carried out by AOC in 2012 in advance of a proposed windfarm at Hunt Hill. The walkover survey covered the access tracks (consented and proposed alternative), much of which follows existing forestry tracks. In addition to review of existing sites (see also NJ24NW0015, NJ24NW0013, NJ24NW0012, NJ24NW0014, NJ24NE0040, NJ24NW0003), a number of new features were identified. A length of wall at NJ2344347771 running northeast-southwest before joining the boundary wall enclosing the plantation survives to a height of 0.6 m. A substantial scoop lies adjacent to the forestry track at NJ 24316 47585, although its function is unclear. The remains of a boundary wall were recorded north of Burn of Rothes at NJ 25383 47948. A number of fords shown on historic mapping have been replaced by pipes running under forestry tracks.
