Full Description
Sheriff Mills are depicted on the OS map of 1846 as Corn and Bone mills. They consist of three buildings, one of which is L-shaped, with two mill lades leading off the river to the mills. By the 1888 map edition there are only two buildings with part of a third and they are now called saw mills. This area housed a mill as early as 1237 AD. Today the area is a car park and the mills have been demolished.
