Full Description
Site of a farmstead depicted on the 1st edition OS map of 1867 as a U-Shaped steading open to the east with an L-shaped building occupying the central courtyard space. An L-shaped farmhouse with enclosed garden area lies to the northeast. Two rectangular buildings and a croft with enclosed garden area to the south, and a smithy and croft with enclosed garden area to the west. On the 2nd edition map of 1888, the north wing of the steading has been extended southwards taking in the L-shaped building. The croft to the south has been removed while the other buildings appear unchanged. On the current edition (2006), only the walls of the farmhouse garden and part of the smithy are depicted. A watching brief was carried out by S. Farrell in November 2008 over the excavation of a new house plot and its associated services. No finds or features of archaeological significance were encountered.
