Full Description

Documentary research by J Gilliatt identified records of a bobbin mill in the parish of Inveravon in the later 19th century. The 1881 census lists a manager (John Ross) living at the Bobbin Mill Foreman's House , two bobbin makers and a wood carter living at the Bobbin Mill Workman's Bothy, and a 'Labourer, Bobbin Mill' boarding at Haugh Cottage. No bobbin mill appears in the 1871 or 1891 census records, and its location has not yet been identified.
