Full Description
Planned village, created in 1811 when its Dunbar laird relocated the Duffus kirktoun community into three terraced rows of cottages on a new site. The new village is shown on the OS 1st edition map as New Duffus, but by the time of the 2nd edition it was known as Duffus. In 1841 according to the census most of the population were agricultural labourers.
