Full Description
Lithic scatter recorded during fieldwalking in March 2020 as part of the Mesolithic Deeside Project. A total of 110 pieces were recovered, predominantly of flint, and including 55 flakes, 14 blades, a scraper and 11 cores. Two quartz flakes were also recorded. They indicate lithic working in both the Mesolithic and Neolithic A large crested blade suggests earlier blade production dating to the Late Upper Palaeolithic or Early Mesolithic. Subsequent lithics analysis considered this as one assemblage with lithic scatters to the northwest (NO79NW0128) and west (NO79NW0129), all of Mesolithic to Neolithic date.
