Full Description

Lithic scatter recorded by fieldwalking carried out over three fields in April 2018 as part of the Mesolithic Deeside project. A total of 518 lithics (mainly flint, with a few pieces of quartz) was recovered including cores, flakes, retouched flakes and blades. They were spread widely across the fields with a higher concentration towards the centre of the area. Collectively they provide evidence for activity from the Mesolithic into the Neolithic. Most of the material is likely to be of Mesolithic or early Neolithic date but there are some Late Neolithic types, including bipolar cores and a bifacial piece.
