Scatter of worked flints recorded by fieldwalking in March 2017 as part of the Mesolithic Deeside project. They were recovered from the western part of the field and included cores, flakes and blades. The 32 lithics suggest activity in the Late Neolithic, as well as other periods. Further fieldwalking in February 2020 recovered a total of 232 worked flints and 44 burnt flints. The worked flints included including 18 cores, 81 flakes, 20 small flakes, 75 blades, two scrapers and two microliths. The assemblage is dominated by blade technology, Two narrow blade microliths date to the Late Mesolithic, and it is probable that the majority of the assemblage is of this date, There are elements of earlier blade technology, including an opposed platform blade core, three blades detached from opposed platform cores, three crested blades, and a fragment of a blade end scraper, all of which may date to the Early Mesolithic or Late Upper Palaeolithic. The worked lithics are spread across the field although concentrated in the northwest corner, and with the earlier and later blade technologies mixed together.
