Full Description

Remains of a South-facing lectern-type dovecot with crowstepped gables, dated 1631. It is constructed from harl pointed rubble with ashlar dressings. A string course extends to half way on the west and east sides, 2.1 metres (6.9 feet) above ground level. The entrance is a low centre door with chamfered margins in the South elevation, and there is a small barred aperture above it. A central South-facing gabled dormer has four rows of flight-holes. There is a lintel stone dated '1631'. The inside walls are entirely lined with approximately 470 stone pigeon boxes. The slate roof has mostly collapsed, and there are trees growing within the structure coming out of the roof. A large crack has developed in the east wall.
