Full Description
Scatter of lithics recovered during fieldwalking by the Mesolithic Deeside project in February 2022. A total of 36 worked flints were recovered including flakes, blades and retouched blades (two scrapers and an awl), together with two quartz flakes, and a rhyolite or quartzite knife form. A possible jet/shale bracelet and four pieces of burnt flint were also found. The assemblage is of mixed date with blade cores and blades dating to the Late Mesolithic as well as evidence for later activity: a thumbnail scraper of Early Bronze Age date, the knife form of Late Neolithic or later date. The bracelet fragment is of Bronze Age or later date.
