Full Description
Lithic scatter recording by fieldwalking carried out in January 2020 as part of the Mesolithic Deeside project. A total of 199 worked flints were recovered, including 11 cores, 91 flakes, 23 small flakes, 20 blades, 8 scrapers, am awl and two leaf-shaped points/arrowheads. Eleven quartz flakes and two quartz blades were also recovered, indicating a stronger element of quartz working than other collections from along the River Dee. There were only a small number of other finds, including modern midden material, and one piece of medieval pottery. The mix of flake and blade working indicates Late Mesolithic to Late Neolithic activity.
