Full Description

Lithic scatter recorded by fieldwalking carried out in February 2018 as part of the Mesolithic Deeside project. The fields lie on an eroded surface of the Maryfield river terrace. A total of 102 lithics were recovered, mainly from the central and higher parts of the fields on the least eroded parts of the terrace. The assemblage is dominated by flakes, but including cores, and blades. There is only one retouched tools, a scraper. Two cores were suggested to be Mesolithic in date. Other material could be Neolithic.
