Full Description

Scatter of worked flints recorded by fieldwalking in January 2019 as part of the Mesolithic Deeside project. Over 80 flints were recovered, including blades, cores, flakes and bladelets. Fieldwalking in 1992 had recorded only three flints in this field, and there had also been further fieldwalking in this and the adjacent field to the east (NO79NE0127) between 2000 and 2005. This is one of 11 fields walked at Wester Durris, the scatter dominated by elements suggesting Late Neolithic and Bronze Age activity. An unusual end scraper is likely to date to the Late Upper Palaeolithic.
