Full Description
Bronze flanged axe, broken at haft end, 171mm long x 52mm wide at the blade. It was found lying in water, just below the bank almost directly beneath the bridge. Inspection of the river bank below and on either side of the bridge shows the presence of intrusive quarry stone as a stabilising agent. There is the possibility that the axe may have been brought from elsewhere, although the axe is not rolled or damaged.
