Full Description
Mesolithic flint scatter was found by surface collection by Dr Grieve in the 1970s after ploughing and heavy rain (Grieve's site B). A total of 662 worked flakes were found in a well-defined scatter of circa 25 yards radius. See also NO79NE0126. Recent analysis of the collection has identified debitage including flakes and blades, cores, scrapers and knives, and is probably predominantly of Later Mesolithic date. The collection also includes two certain Early Mesolithic microliths, and two certain Late Mesolithic ones. Two Levallois-like flakes indicate that the side was also visited in the later Neolithic. Lithics in the Daly Collection, collected in the 1980s and 1990s, were assessed in 2024 as part of the Mesolithic Deeside Project and 173 lithics identified from this site,
