Full Description

A Late Bronze Age bronze sword of unknown provenance which is in Montrose Museum. Burgess and Colquhon classify it as of Ewart Park Type. It is complete, well cast and in good condition. Its dimensions are: 60.4 cm long, 4.3 cm wide at the terminal, 5.05 cm wide at the shoulder, with a maximum blade width of 3.9 cm. It has a good dark green patina on one side, the other has a patchy dark green patina with much bronze surface showing. The rivets are in the pattern 2 (+1 bl): 2 (+2bl), with three in situ.
