Full Description

Pictish symbol stone found in 2020 during excavation following geophysical survey by University of Aberdeen. Of grey sandstone, measuring 1.73 m by 0.8 m by 0.29 m, with weathered carved symbols, and possibly of 5th or 6th century AD date. The carvings, all on the same side, include triple ovals, a comb and mirror, a crescent and V-rod and double discs. Unusually some symbols overlie others. The stone was built into the paving of a building of 11th or 12th century date, the paving also including a cup-marked stone.
