Full Description

A scatter of flints of Late Mesolithic date were recovered during fieldwalking from molehills on pasture land. The site forms a crescent shape and is located on a raised terrace above the River Dee. The scatter comprises 110 pieces of flint in total, including flakes, scrapers, blade ends and waste flakes. The flint is of Cruden Bay type. Lithics in the Daly Collection, collected in the 1980s and 1990s, were assessed in 2024 as part of the Mesolithic Deeside Project and 84 lithics recorded as 'Cambus O' May' were possibly from this area although no further details of location were noted on the Daly finds so unclear which field(s) he walked.
