Full Description

Remains of buildings, clearance cairns and dykes recorded during walkover survey by AOC in August 2021 ahead of a proposed wind farm (NJ15SE0068). From north to south. Feature 155 comprises a dump of clearance material measures 16 m by 6 m, and up to 0.6 m high. It is below trees in the vicinity of a possible field boundary shown on the OS 1st edition map. Feature 156 is a clearance cairn measuring circa 5 m across and 0.4 m high, situated alongside a degraded dyke. Features 157 and 158 are degraded stone and turf dykes, parts of boundaries shown on the OS 1st edition map. Feature 159 comprises the possible grass-covered footings of a rectangular building measuring 15 m by 8 m. Feature 160 is a small square-plan pile of clearance material, 2 m by 2 m. Feature 161 is the footings of a possible sub-rectangular building or pen measuring 8 m by 5.5 m, the stones on top probably clearance material. Feature 162 is a clearance cairn measuring 3 m by 2 m.
