Full Description

Three stone artefacts, found in garden. All are possibly whetstones, polishing stones or grain rubbers. The first was reported in 2001, was found in garden topsoil. It is a dark green stone, possibly a hornblende schist with greatest wear at one end. Returned to the finder. In 2004 a second similar item, in hornblende schist was found as a surface find within the garden. A rubbing stone (dated to the Pictish to medieval period), reddish brown in colour and with a bevelled edge, found in the garden is now in the Meffan Museum.
