Full Description

A surface scatter of flaked quartzite artefacts found in 2008, mainly in the area between Fordhouse Farm and Den of Dun. Further finds collected 2008 - 2009 included hammerstones, cores, flakes, scrapers and miscellaneous retouched pieces. They are all assumed to relate to a later Bronze Age utilisation of abundant quartzite cobbles. Comparable material was retrieved from the upper mound of the Fordhouse of Dun barrow (NO66SE0079) to the west. Claimed as Treasure Trove and allocated to NMS.
