Full Description

A Late Bronze Age bronze sword from 'The Rowan', now in Glenesk Folk Trust Museum. Coles classified it as of Ewart Park Type, Burgess and Colquhon refined the classification as of their Northern step 2. Its dimensions are: 64 cm long, 4 cm wide at the terminal, with a maximum blade width of 4.55 cm. It is broken at the butt and shoulder. The sword is well cast with rough edges and has a dark green patina with some small patches of bronze disease. Otherwise it is in good condition. The rivets are in the pattern 2:4, with none in situ.
