Full Description
Lithic scatter recorded by fieldwalking by Mesolithic Deeside Project in March 2022. A total of 260 flint lithics were recovered, mainly concentrated at the west end of the field. They include 22 cores, 132 flakes, 29 blades, 52 small flakes and three retouched tools (one microlith fragment and two scrapers). Flaked pebbles, and flake and blade cores indicate that this was an area used for making tools in the Mesolithic and Neolithic, with debitage from both technologies present in the form of flakes, small flakes and blades. One broad flake has a platform indicative of Late Neolithic flake core working.
